I try to be as active as possible. I try to walk when I can and do other activities to build up my cardio. It has helped keep it under control. I still dont have my blood pressure where I want it but will work on it until it stays where it should without so many pills.

My blood pressure has been a problem for several years now. The only way I have been able to control it is with meds.

I walk on the treadmill, and eat as healthy as I can, but my blood pressure problems are inherited, so the meds are the way to go for me.

My boss almost died of hypertension, until he changed his lifestyle dramatically, but not in a negative manner.

First off, he prevented obesity by aiming for a healthy, reasonable weight. He put his waist measurement to normal (under 40 inches for men, 35 inches for women).

Second, he increased his physical activity by walking most days of the week. He is not taking a walk in a sense of strolling, but he keeps firm, fast rhythm that makes him sweat.
Next, he crossed salt and sodium out of his diet. He claims salt and sodium are easily replaced by herbs and spices. With hypertension, garlic is particularly recommended.

Furthermore, he increased significantly the consumption of grains, vegetables, fruits and low fat dairy products.

He moderated alcohol intake within reasons. Thus, he affords maximum one beer, two glasses of wine (preferably red) or one spirit per day.

At last, but not least, he strictly decided to allow regular relaxation minimum three times a week, dedicating his attention to long forgotten hobbies like puzzles and photography.
