Blood pressure 97/43! Yesterday and today I have been feeling light headed upon standing and dizzy. I checked my blood pressure last night and it came out to 97/43. Today I checked it and it's 98/61. I have no idea what is going on. My normal BP is 110/80. I do have Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome and these past few months I've been dealing with really bad GERD and weight loss from it. I am currently on no medication. I do take a multi-vitamin and 250ml of magnesium oxide. My Dr gave me a ppi pump inhibitor but I cannot take them or a histamine H2-receptor. There is nothing I can take to treat my GERD without side effects. Could GERD cause low blood pressure? Is my blood pressue at a dangerous level?

It's low but not critical. GERD can play hell with your BP and the addition of prolapse isn'y helping. You have to control your GERD (and there is always something to help with GERD)with diet and Prilosec OTC which contains omeprazole - one of the best used and least offensive GERD medication on the market. Try that first before getting back to the doctor. After awhile the magnesium won't be needed and should never have been given since magnesium plays hell with the internal organs. Watch your diet reseach GERD to see what triggers the acid (foodwise), also stress trigger the proton pumps so try and relax as much as possible.
