Oops, forgot to add, get them to check how much salt you are losing thru a 24 hour urine test. I had lots of salt in my urine and had lots of urine. i get dizzy a lot, fall over, recently had a semi severe head injury from a fall I had too. I eat LOTS of salt now, but you can get salt tabs and if you do have addisons you need meds like florinef, I am still waiting to see the endcricon soecialist, but I wont be taking meds that make me fat. I am losing weight from this, and thats the only good part. It can also be dangerous, so u better get checked out. I am no longer able to drive, and thats a killer. On a hot day i feel like a spinning top, I put this down to losing sweat. I hope you dont have addisons, but it is a sign of it.

Yes, I would be concerned by a blood pressure of 79/40. It is low enough to be considered hypotension. Although you think you are very healthy, hypotension can be a sign of poor nutrition and heart or thyroid disease. Low blood pressure can also be a side effect of certain medications.
Check your blood pressure in both arms and while lying down, sitting and standing. Check it before and after meals. Make sure the blood pressure cuff is the correct size. If you continue to get such low readings you should call your primary care physician for evaluation.

The best way to be sure is to just make a doctor's appointment. Your blood pressure should be taken in both arms, but it may also be the size cuff causing an unusual reading. A normal, healthy blood pressure reading is around 120/80. Here is a site with a chart so you can see the ranges.

Your blood pressure is considered low, possibly Hypotention and you may need medication to adjust it. Again, only your doctor will know for sure. He/she may even send you to a cardiologist, which isn't a bad idea, either. Better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health.

There are numerous reasons for a person to have low blood pressure, and all of them are not bad.
Your doctor will take into consideration your amount of exercise, liquid intake, whether or not it is positional and a boatload of other facts.
The new figures for a good blood pressure reading have gone down a bit. The old 120/80 is considered to be a bit on the high side today.
As many serious conditions appear along with low blood pressure (or high). it is alway prudent to consult your doctor.

79/40 is a pretty low blood pressure reading especially when you consider 120/80 is where the experts want you to be. It might be something to be concerned about but you should really have this conversation with your doctor.
I know a few people that have lower blood pressure but it is something present in other family members so it is not alarming. I dont recall their measurements but I do not believe it was as low as you stated yours was.
There is also the chance that the machine you used was faulty or had some other kind of malfunction.
I would strongly suggest that you make an appointment to see your doctor. Only he/she can really let you know if your health is in danger.

My question to you would be where did you get this reading? A reading with a systolic (the top number) under 90 is typical of shock and you would at a minimum get IV fluids and a basic investigation into what was going on.
Movement, a blood pressure cuff that is too large, a machine that is not working well, and a tech who is not skilled are all reasons that you could get a Blood pressure reading that is false. Generally at your age you would expect to have symptoms of some sort with a reading like that. The fact that you are only worried because someone has told you to worry makes me wonder if it was not a false reading.
So, if you took it at home, take it again. If you still have a systolic reading below 90 head to the ER. I have been a nurse since 2000, I work in critical situations every day that I am at work. I am not an alarmist. I am however very concerned about you if that is your real blood pressure!
