In 2004, a new national guideline defining normal blood pressures for children was published. Blood pressures for children vary based on their gender and height percentile. Boys generally have higher normal blood pressures than girls of the same age. Taller children have higher normal blood pressures than shorter children of the same age. For an average 5 year old girl, a normal blood pressure would be less than 106/68. A complete table of normal blood pressures for children can be found at http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/hypertension/c hild_tbl.htm

It is also not odd for a childs blood pressure to be higher at the doctors than it would be normally particularly if the child is at all stressed when visiting the doctor.

Stress and nervousness can elivate blood pressure. They will have to take his BP several times to make sure that the number is consistant. It's not abnormal for younger adults or kids to have High Blood Pressure. Sometimes it can even be genetic. I reccommend putting him on the Dash Diet http://www.dashdiet.org/ which helps maintain good blood pressure though the use of eating healthy. He's probably comsuming too much salt.

and try some apple cider vinegar it is proven to help lower blood pressure. I hate the taste but they do have apple cider vinger pills you can get at your local drugstore.

You must reduce sodium in your diet. But in this situation, YOU MUST TOTALLY AVOID TAKING SALT IN YOUR FOODS.

Blood pressure often increases as weight increases. Losing just 10 pounds can help reduce your blood pressure significantly. In general, the more weight you lose, the lower your blood pressure. Losing weight also makes any blood pressure medications you're taking more effective.

Regular physical activity — at least 30 to 60 minutes most days of the week — can lower your blood pressure by 4 to 9 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). And it doesn't take long to see a difference. If you've been sedentary, increasing your activity can lower your blood pressure within just a few weeks.

Eating a diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products and skimps on saturated fat and cholesterol can lower your blood pressure by up to 14 mm Hg. This eating plan is known as the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet.

Consider boosting potassium. The best source of potassium is food, such as fruits and vegetables, rather than supplements. Some packaged food products list potassium on the labels. Talk to your doctor about the potassium level that's best for you.

Hey there are many factors which effects the blood pressure of the child. The eating habits effetcs the most. Excessive salts and sodium intake may triggers higher blood pressure.
If a child is higher than other in length, then he may have a higher blood pressure because the heart needs to pump the blood at a relatively greater length vertically.
