My blood pressure is up to 167/99 heart 76 . I am taking Amoxicillin for nasal infection and that has been for 10 days now and I do not see a lot of improvement yet. I am trying to eat yogurt to help replace good antibodies but the blood pressure is staying high. Earlier my doctor said I was in good health. My Monocytes are high 14 the range should be between 4 -13. Cholesterol is 183 however the Triglycerides is high 170 and should be 0 - 149. What do you suggest I do from here?

Have you been taking any sinus decongestants like Sudafed (pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine)? These drugs can increase blood pressure.

I think if the amoxicillin isn't working, you need to be re-evaluated by your doctor.

I haven't been taking medications for sinus as I was hoping by using a neti pot and the salt mixture to remove any mucus present that the sinus inflammation would disappear. I tried an tried to just eat right veggies & fruit, and if any meat at all just really lean plus natural vitamins and supplements . However, anything I have tried has only helped for short periods of time. I tried to avoid taking antibiotics as the doctor kept feeling it must be an allergy. I cannot remove the mucus by blowing my nose as nothing will come out that way... It keeps draining down the back of my throat when I lie down.

I keep feeling like probably have a sinus infection instead of just a seasonal allergy as this has hung on for a long, long time!

If you have been taking Amoxicillin for ten days without results, it's time to return to your doctor. Your sinusitis should have improved by now.

As for the blood pressure, are you referring to one reading or multiple high readings over a number of days? Many things can affect your blood pressure and a number of things will give you a false high reading.

Some of the things that may increase your blood pressure include pain, stress, medications, or alcohol. If you are talking when your blood pressure is being taken, it will also be elevated.

Some of the things that cause an erroneous high reading are an ill fitting blood pressure cuff (usually too small) or if the cuff is placed over a sleeve. Blood pressure should always be taken in both arms to ensure an accurate reading.

It sounds like you ARE in good health, overall.

Your blood pressure will stay up as long as you are fighting an infection. That's your body fighting back.

Your triglycerides aren't that bad. Ask your doctor about them.

I wouldn't get too concerned about any of the numbers you named until you are well again, and off any meds.
