Cut back on your salt intake, watch your cafeine and fried foods. Exercise, get plenty of rest and drink lots of water. All these tips are good for a lot of things but having high blood pressure myself I totally get where you're coming from.
Also, it you happen to be having cholesterol problems too try eating a bowl of honey nut cherrios each day. I got amazing results in a months time. My Nurse Practitioner called when she got my test results back and wanted to know what I was doing because she wanted to tell her husband so he could lower his cholesterol too.
Good luck and live healthy!

I have high blood pressure, so I have to watch all these things.
Mine is caused by stress, and being overweight.
Exercising can reduce both stress and weight , so that is very important.
Reducing salt intake can help lower blood pressure, but it's not the salt itself. Salt causes your body to retain fluid , so your blood pressure goes up.
My blood pressure is under control, but I'm also working on my weight, and I exercise everyday.

I have never had high blood pressure myself but it runs in my family and my husband has it as well. Even though I am a little bit over weight I still don't have high blood pressure. I have been told by my doctor that eating healthy food, getting plenty of exercise and avoiding all stress is the best way to keep from getting high blood pressure. If you are under alot of stress then you need to find ways to avoid that stress as much as possible. Also you need to avoid salt or eat less of it as it can also pose a problem. Good luck and best wishes.

Lose weight if you have any excess pounds. Quit smoking. Increase your cardio exercise. Decrease your saturated fats to no more than 15 grams daily. Eliminate trans fats. Decrease your salt intake to no more than 2300 mg (maximum). Eliminate packaged prepared foods and go for the fresh stuff instead. Eat a healthy diet with fresh fruits, vegetables, no or low fat dairy, lean meats and fish, whole wheat/whole grain products. Increase our fiber to at least 25 grams. Increase your water intake to 8 glasses daily. If you make these lifestyle changes your blood pressure will come down. I guarantee it. My husband was on blood pressure medication, which he no longer needs to take because of these changes.

Besides the ideas given by the users above, you can also supplement your diet with the following vitamins and natural remedies (this will reduce your cholesterol levels and lower your blood pressure):
1. FISH OILS
They contain Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, all of which are essential for brain growth & development, healthy joints and heart health. They lower the blood pressure & lower the risk of heart disease.
2. GARLIC & ONIONS & GREEN TEA
All of these contain antioxidants which contribute to lowering blood pressure & cholesterol (which again reduces blood pressure), so should be included in your daily diet.
3. SOY PRODUCTS
They have been shown to reduce BP, so incorporating soy products like milk, tofu, protein shakes & nuts into the diet could prove to be beneficial with regards to bringing your blood pressure down
4. WHOLE GRAINS, VEGETABLES, FRUITS & BEANS/LEGUMES
They all contain fibre which is particularly good for digestive health, but the also contain potassium, magnesium, calcium, and other nutrients that help lower blood pressure. Potassium is particularly important for the every day running of the heart, and apples, oranges, tomatoes, and bananas are a great sources of potassium, so eating these could improve the blood pressure.
Hope this helps!
