What should I do? I am 30 weeks pregnant. My left kidney is hurting me pretty badly. I have had a history of kidney stones and I have had high blood pressure and anemia my entire pregnancy. I have been tolerating the pain pretty well for the past few weeks but I am getting worried that something is really wrong. The pain isn't too bad to deal with but I dont want anything to be wrong with my little girl. Is this just regular pregnancy pain or is there probably something else wrong? |

A kidney that is continuously painful is not a normal pain associated with pregnancy. (Sometimes the baby can give a kick that might bother a kidney, but that would be a pain that goes away relatively quickly.) I would call your OB-GYN as soon as possible and tell them about the pain you are experiencing. They may want to do an ultrasound or MRI to see what is going on.
