What types of exercise are good for the heart? What types of exercise that benefit the heart aside from walking? Exercise that would not strain my heart and raise my blood pressure but help strengthen my heart and reduce the chance of developing coronary artery disease. |

Well, jogging and anything aerobic in nature does wonderful things for our beloved hearts. Light weight training with high reps is also good for the heart. The key is to get the blood flowing, as this is what keeps the heart healthy. Naturally, we will want to maintain a heatlhy diet to ensure that we don't face any heart trouble in our future.
I would also recommend( if you aren't taking it already,) that you take Omega 3 capsules. They can be found at your local Wal Mart for about $6 bucks for a few month supply. They are very beneficial in alot of ways, and worth every bit of the money. Hope this helped!

Studies have found that exercise, like jumping, stretching, cycling, sprinting, swimming, running or brisk walking, can help men / women keep their heart muscle and bones strong. The three components to a well-balanced exercise routine are:
aerobic exercise (such as cycling, swimming, walking, rowing, running, hiking or playing tennis),
strength training, and
flexibility training.
Frequent and regular physical exercise (cycling, stretching, swimming, sprinting, running or brisk walking), boosts the immune system, and helps prevent the "diseases of affluence" such as heart disease, cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes and obesity. It also improves mental health, helps prevent depression, helps to promote or maintain positive self-esteem, and can even augment an individual's sex appeal.

What is a good chest exercise?Bench presses and curls are two of the first exercises that are learned by new weight lifters. For men, the chest or pecs (short for pectorals) are second only to biceps as the top show muscles in teenagers and young adults.
For women, the chest is even more important. Keeping well built, toned pecs can be useful in maintaining a solid, perky appearance of the breasts. The pecs are involved in one of the main powerlifting exercises, the bench press. The bench press is one of three exercises, including squats and deadlifts, in a standard big 3 powerlifting competition. For this reason, it is always important for powerlifters to increase their chest strength.

The heart is happy when it is in the water. You see water exercise is wise not just for low impact exercises but also for the efficiency of the heart.
When you are chest high in the water, your resting heart rate drops 15-18 beats per minute. This gives your body a feeling that you are not working hard but yet you really are.
Additionally, with the resting heart rate, if you track it over time, you will see your heart rate change. The more you exercise, the lower the resting heart rate. the less you exercise, your body is needing more beats per minute just to rest - it is operating inefficiently.
The heart needs at a minimum 30 minutes per day of exercise.
Source for the 30 minute guideline - "the Office of the Surgeon General of the United States (Physical Activity and Health, 1996; Call to Action to Prevent and Decrease Overweight and Obesity, 2001), and the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (Healthy People 2010)"
